Your Siberian Husky or Doberman Pinscher puppy is looking up at you. He wants what you are eating, and you do not know if it’s healthy for him or not. This guide will provide you the answers you are looking for.
The following are foods that are safe for your puppy to eat:
- Chicken (If your puppy requires extra protein in his diet, unseasoned chicken is an easy addition to his regular dog food).
- Beef (but ensure to remove the visible fat and the bones.
- Lamb (its lean fat)
- Apples (remove seeds)
- Bananas
- Blueberries
- Lemons
- Peaches (remove the Pitt because this will cause blockage)
- Pineapples
- Strawberries
- Watermelon (remove the rind because this could cause intestinal damage)
- Potatoes (good source of vitamin C and B6, potassium, manganese, and fiber)
- Asparagus (great source of Vitamin K. Good source for vitamins A, B1, B12, C, and iron, copper, fiber, manganese, and potassium)

- Oranges (they are high in natural sugar)
The following are foods that are not safe for your puppy to eat:
- Cooked bones (can cause, broken teeth, bones gets lopped around your puppy’s lower jaw, bone gets tuck in the windpipe, constipation due to bone fragments, peritonitis, severe bleeding from the rectum, bone gets stuck in oesophagus, bones gets stuck in stomach, and mouth or tongue injuries)
- Avocados (can result in vomiting)
- Cherries (can cause cyanide toxicity in large quantities)
- Raisins & Grapes (can cause kidney failure)
- Onions and Garlics (all close members of the onion family contain compounds that can damage puppy’s red blood cells if ingested in sufficient quantities)
- Sausages (can cause thiamine deficiency, which can be fatal)
- Cakes, sweets, and mints (artificial sweeteners can cause a dog’s blood sugar levels to drop dangerously low, causing vomiting, seizures, and liver failure and coma)
- Human Chocolate (causes diarrhea, high heart rate, muscle tremors, and seizures)
- Figs
